Centennial Hills Hospital Outpatient Therapy Center is now providing low vision and vision rehabilitation therapy services to manage common low vision conditions including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, vision and balance problems, and visual changes occurring after a stroke.  The program aims to address a growing need in the community by promoting independence and improving the quality of life of those living with visual deficits through education, assessment, and daily activity retraining.
Please join presenter Sydney Carnevale, OTD, OTR/L, CSRS, a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist for Remedial Vision Rehabilitation Services and Lead Occupational Therapist at Centennial Hills Hospital.

Peter Velasco, an AARP volunteer instructor, will conduct the AARP Safe Driving Class for residents over age 50, June 18 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members.  The fee must be paid by check, payable to AARP, at the start of the class.  The class is approved by the State of Nevada DMV.  You will receive a certificate valid for three years and an insurance discount (the amount determined by your insurance.)

Each year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a STROKE, with about 600,000 of those being first attacks.  A STROKE is a medical emergency that occurs when the blood supply ot your brain is interrupted or reduced.  The good news is that these days, STROKES can be treated and even prevented.

He will explain the signs and symptoms of a STROKE, ways to possibly prevent one, and the different treatments offered for STROKE rehabilitation.
