Free Computer Clinics

Sun City Computer Guy, will suspend his free computer clinics offered on Thursdays for the summer.  He will resume his free computer clinics on Thursday, October 3,

What You Should Know About Diabetes and Your Medicare Benefit
Wednesday, July 17, 10 a.m.
 
Join The Medicare Store on July 17 for an informative presentation on Diabetes with Elisa Brown, PA-C of P3 Medical Group at Town Center. You’ll learn about the mechanics of the disease, common symptoms and some of the best treatment options for patients based on their individual needs.  Light refreshments will be served. AARP Safe Driving Class
Saturday, July 20, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
 
Peter Velasco, an AARP volunteer instructor, will conduct the AARP Safe Driving Class for resident over age 50, Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The fee must be paid by check, payable to AARP, at the start of the class. Write your AARP membership number on your check to get the $15 rate.
 
The class is approved by the State of Nevada DMV. You will receive a certificate valid for three years and an insurance discount (the amount determined by your insurance company). Bring a pen or pencil and the name and number of an emergency contact. Please sign up at the Front Desk by July 19.

You’ll learn about the history of solar legislation in NV, how solar power works in our area, common barriers to going solar, financial and public health benefits, what to expect from a solar company, buying vs. leasing panels, real costs / federal and NV Energy incentives, installation and activation processes, and so on. How to Avoid Injuries from Dizziness and Falls

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); EACH YEAR,  2.5 million older adults are treated in the emergency room for injuries resulting from dizziness and falls.  Approximately 700,000 of those individuals are admitted to the hospital because of a fall that resulted in a hip fracture or head injury. Falls were identified as the most common cause of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). 
 
Join Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist Dr. Mike Rantissi of Advanced Manual Therapy to explain what causes dizziness, poor balance, and falls and how to prevent injuries in the future.  A light lunch will be provided.  Please sign up at the Front Desk by July 22.

Loneliness is an epidemic among seniors. It is completely understandable why you might feel lonely as you get older. Family members might have moved out of the house and are far away. Perhaps old friends and work acquaintances have left town… What can we do about it?
 
Join representatives from Centennial Hills Hospital for an enlightening workshop and learn how to be more active and socialize and find new programs and activities that will lead to a more fulfilling life.  Snacks will be provided.
