 IT'S PARTY TIME!
I have attached the flyer sent to me from the Aliante Master Association about the 21+Adult Event. The Aliante Master Poolside Soiree is scheduled for September 19 at the Aliante Hotel & Casino's outdoor pool area from 7 to 10 p.m. Please note that this is a 21+ adults-only event.
The event includes:
• A catered dinner buffet- starting at 7:30 p.m.-8:45 p.m.
• Live DJ entertainment • Raffle prizes - Must be present to collect your prize • An opportunity to connect with neighbors Attendance is limited to the first 200 residents due to venue capacity. Residents must complete the required pre-registration process and purchase a ticket for $15 through Eventbrite to secure their spot.

A resident stopped by my office this week with an article that was previously published in The Breeze and eBlast regarding the importance of protecting yourself against mail thieves. I thought it would provide some very useful information to benefit our homeowners.
 PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST MAIL THEFT!
All residents within the communities that make up Aliante have their U.S. mail delivered via Neighborhood Delivery & Collection Box Units (commonly known as cluster mailboxes). While this usually provides us with safe, prompt delivery of our mail (letters and most packages), having the mail concentrated in a single cluster mailbox can present a temptation to criminals.
Although the USPS in North Las Vegas has been aggressively replacing the older, more vulnerable, cluster mailboxes, the task is ongoing. Until all the older cluster mailboxes have been replaced with the new, much harder to break-open models, we are going to be faced with the possibility of our mail services being disrupted when our cluster mailbox is vandalized.
It may be weeks, even months, before a new cluster mailbox is installed and your regular delivery resumes. Until then, you must go to the North Las Vegas Post Office at
4904 Camino Al Norte to retrieve your mail.
SIGN UP FOR INFORMED DELIVERY
A good way to ensure you are on top of what is coming in your mailbox is a Postal Service called Informed Delivery. Informed Delivery is a free notification mechanism that gives you the ability to digitally preview your letter-sized mail and packages that have been received at the Post Office. While this service doesn’t eliminate trips to the Post Office if you are a victim of Mail Theft, it does allow you to determine whether what is waiting for you is worth making the trip.
To sign up for this service, go to the “usps.com” website, click on the “Register/Sign In” menu item near the top right of the window and, unless you have previously created an account, click on the “Sign Up Now” button.
Complete the sign-up process by entering a Username and Password, complete the security questions selection process, choose Personal Account, enter your contact information and home address. After registering, click on the Informed Delivery icon and then click on the “Enroll” button. At this point, you will be asked to change/update your preferences and opt-in to the Informed Delivery service.
HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL HELPFUL HINTS:
* Do not leave mail in your community mailbox overnight. This is usually when thieves attack.
* Deposit mail at a Post Office or blue Postal Service collection box.
* If you see suspicious activity around your mailbox, please call your local police and the Postal Inspection Service.
* You may be entitled to certain information and services as a result of your victimization. Call the Inspection Service for Publication 308.
Mail Theft is a Federal Crime investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Rewards are payable for information leading to the arrest and conviction of violators.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR MAIL IS STOLEN:
If your mail has been stolen, please report the incident to the Postal Inspection Service at (877) 676-2455 or go online and visit http://postalinspectors.uspls.gov.
* Due to the nature of your service request (Theft), the case would probably be turned over to the Postal Investigation Department and there is no estimated time they can provide regarding when someone in the department will contact you. They usually only contact if they have questions that could help them with the case.
* The local post office at Meadow Mesa office will be the one to contact for any updates on when the mailboxes will be replaced or repaired.
* The Postal Department recommends homeowners get a P.O Box in the meantime for their mail or put a hold on their mail.
* The Postal Department encourages filing a service request/report by all affected residents or any future residents who may become victims of vandalism/theft so that more attention is drawn to the targeted area.

* Residents can submit a Service Request via phone with an agent, email, or text.

We encourage every household to complete and return this two-page form, even if you believe we already have your current information on file. Phone numbers, email addresses, mailing addresses, emergency contacts, and communication preferences can all change over time, and keeping this information current allows us to better serve our residents. Don't forget to fill out the front and back of the form.

 REPUBLIC SERVICES OFFERS DISABILITY DOOR SERVICE FOR GARBAGE AND TRASH CONTAINERS FOR QUALIFYING SENIORS
If you are unable to move your trash and garbage containers to the street, Republic Services offers a program for qualified disabled residents.
You must fill out an application for the program and meet the following criteria:
* The applicant must be the principal home occupant
* The applicant must be disabled, precluding them from moving the cart(s) to the curbside pickup location for service due to physical impairment
* The applicant must certify that no other person residing with the occupant is physically able to move the containers to the curb
* The applicant must complete a form and include one of the following:
1. A physician's statement verifying a medical condition that precludes you from moving garbage cans to the curb.
2. A copy of your vehicle registration showing a disability plate 3 and a copy of your disability place card.
